Description:Kay (Janet Gaynor) is stuck in her small town, seeing the same people and doing the same things day after day. One night, wealthy, upper-crust doctor Bob Dakin (Robert Taylor) stops to ask her for directions and ends up taking her to a party. They both get drunk and, on an impulse, get married. The next morning, when Bob realizes what he's done, he promises Kay an annulment. But when the newspapers get hold of the story, Bob decides he needs to stay married for a while for appearances sake. His fiancée, Priscilla, isn't thrilled, but agrees to put up with it. Bob and Kay take a cruise in the family yacht, then settle into an apartment. Kay falls in love with Bob for real, but when the six-months agreed upon are over and she realizes he still loves Priscilla, she heads back to her small town. A few days later, Bob comes to get her, deciding not to divorce her after all. Jimmy Stewart has a small role as Elmer, Kay's small-town boyfriend.

Review - Small Town Girl

Predicable formula piece. It had potential, but Gaynor looked too much like a little kid and she and Taylor had no chemistry. I only watched to see Jimmy Stewart, but he was only on screen for about five minutes.
