Review - Snowed Under
One of those annoying comedies that depends on multiple characters screaming over each other for laughs. It doesn't work.

| Description: | Playwright Alan Tanner needs to write the third act to a play that is due to open in a week. With writers block, he secludes himself in a country cabin to work on it. His producer calls Alice (Genevieve Tobin), Alan's ex-wife, and sends her to the cabin to help, since Alan did his best work when he was married to her. They're still fond of each other and get to work. Then three more people arrive — Daisy (Glenda Farrell), Alan's current wife from whom he's separated, her lawyer McBride, and Orlando (Frank McHugh), the deputy sheriff who has to take Alan to jail for not paying alimony to Daisy. Alice insists he waits until morning because, if Alan doesn't finish the play, he'll never be able to pay Daisy. The Alice discovers Pat (Patricia Ellis) a local girl with a crush on Alan who snuck into the house to surprise him. All is chaos as the women fight over Alan. Frustrated, he goes to a neighbor's home and finishes the play. There's more confusion in the morning, with the arrival of the sheriff and Alan's producer, but all gets ironed out. Pal and McBride fall for each other. Daisy withdraws her claim for alimony and gets engaged to Orlando. And Alan and Alice decide to marry again. |
