Description:When an informant writes an expose of Boss Greer's black market operation during the war, Greer has him killed. Journalist Steve Mitchell (George Brent) prints an accusation, but Greer puts pressure on Mitchell's boss and gets him demoted to writing a lovelorn column. But Mitchell doesn't give up. With the help of his girlfriend, reporter Laurie (Brenda Marshall) and Mac, a photographer, he tracks down Greer's gang and finds the expose. Mitchell prints the story and gets his job back. Greer is arrested by the MPs when they find out he's been selling needed war supplies on the black market.

Review - You Can't Escape Forever

This movie couldn't decide what it wanted to be. It was about the pursuit of a mobster who was having people killed, but it also contained a lot of slapstick "comedy," all of which made it neither suspenseful or funny. The characters were all parodies, and there were too many of them. Brenda Marshall played her reporter role like she was half drunk, abrasive, and stupid.
